NATUROPATHY

Naturopathy encompasses a holistic approach to the treatment of physical and emotional health issues.  Given the right tools, we believe the body has the ability to restore itself, and naturopathy supports and encourages this innate healing process.

I believe most health concerns can benefit from practical naturopathic advice and treatment. These include insomnia, anxiety, stress, diabetes, high cholesterol, weight issues, fatigue, high blood pressure, digestive problems and many more.

We draw on a number of modalities, used individually or in combination, to determine the most suitable and tailored approach to achieving your health goals.

These include:

Herbal Medicine - We use liquid or tablet extracts of different parts of plants for their therapeutic value. The practice of herbal medicine is one of the oldest systems of medicine and is still widely used around the world.

Nutritional Medicine - Good nutrition underpins good health. Where indicated we may use vitamins and mineral supplements, including celloids, to support your diet if necessary.

Diet and Lifestyle advice - short term and long term improvements in your health can often be achieved through simple dietary and lifestyle changes. We will analyse your diet to identify any factors which might be preventing you from achieveing your health goals.

Homoeopathy - Homoeopathic medicines work on the subtle energies of the body as a catalyst to encourage your body's own unique healing abilities. When we use homoeopathy, our aim is to find the remedy that will resonate with the individual, recognising that everyone is different.

Iridology - We use the study of the patterns, markings and colours of the iris to indicate potential health issues or organ dysfunction as part of our overall assessment of your health.

The purpose of naturopathy can be considered in four different ways:

  1. Firstly, the provision of relief from your symptoms
  2. Secondly, treatment to support your lifestyle and/or any environmental influences on your health
  3. Thirdly, treatment to correct any underlying imbalances or causes of ill health
  4. Finally, education and advice to promote optimal long term health and minimise the likelihood of symptoms returning.

If you would like to know more, this is a link to a short interview with the President of the NHAA explaining naturopathy and what to expect in a consultation.

As the owner of LaVida Health and the resident naturopath, it is my aim to provide my clients with advice which is realistic and tailored to their specific needs and lifestyle.

I come from a corporate background (Accounting and then HR) so I understand the pressures and health problems that stem from a demanding career and lifestyle.

Sometimes, naturopaths can be a little unrealistic in what they expect of their clients. Our advice has to work in the context of your real life, not some "ideal" life. That is why I believe naturopathy is a collaborative process.
